Anti-HIV Type 1 p24 Clone 39/6.14
Manuel
- 0
Specificity
It reacts with the p24 protein of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV 1). It is cross-reactive with human immunodeficiency virus type 2 and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV).
General notes
The antibody is used to detect the HIV 1 core protein in virus-infected cells as well as lysates of infected or viral cells. Studies on the synthesis and metabolism of core antigens can be performed using immunoblot or radioimmunoprecipitation assays. This antibody is useful as a solid phase for capturing p24 in an antigen ELISA format.
The life sciences industry has been on the brink of a reproducibility crisis for several years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing this with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation. Please verify that this product meets your needs before purchasing.
Relevance
HIV1 performs highly complex orchestrated tasks during the assembly, budding, maturation, and infection stages of the viral replication cycle. During viral assembly, proteins form membrane associations and self-association that ultimately result in the budding of an immature virion from the infected cell. The gag precursors also function during viral assembly to selectively join and package two more strands of genomic RNA. The capsid protein p24 probably forms the conical nucleus of the virus that encapsulates the RNA-genomic nucleocapsid complex.
